Our Programs
La Paz and its surrounding areas have been subjected to high levels of migration
from the poverty-stricken states in Mexico's interior. These Mexicans end up in
squatter settlements without an infrastructure to support them. They are without
access to basic needs such as potable water, telecommunications, electric
hook-ups and sewage systems. Lacking an education, the only jobs available
are those that pay poorly. Not surprisingly, if you ask the financially
poor what they would wish for their future, their first response is always
the same, "A better future for my child; education for my children."
Our projects are designed to benefit the child by improving their quality of
life and giving them an opportunity to grow up healthy and educated. We are
committed to long-term solutions, not quick fixes. In order to make a
difference in people's lives, we also need to reach beyond the child to their
families and community. We listen to the families and strive to support
them in their endeavours to overcome poverty and improve their lives.
